How Dare You Slander Me

Chalyce was enraged. She was absolutely aware of the jesting expressions now apparent on each of the three male faces that sat at the table. Still, to make light of such matters was unendurable. Picking up the plate of food that sat before Race, she smashed it against his chest, smearing his immaculately pressed white shirt with strawberry preserves, eggs yolks and bacon grease.
…”How dare you slander me so?” Chalyce shouted. “Accusing me of…of…”
“You little imp!” Race growled. Violently he tore open his soiled shirt, sending buttons flying throughout the room. Wadding it up, he brutally threw it at her feet.
Chalyce swallowed hard as she looked up into his enraged face. His massive chest rose and fell dramatically with his controlled breaths of anger. He ceremoniously wiped his chest with one hand and studied the contents of his breakfast that had quickly soaked through his shirt to his skin.
“I’m sorry,” Chalyce apologized. “But you provoked me.”
Race nodded his head in acknowledgment. “Perhaps.” Then, taking her arm tightly in one hand he said, “Even so…you’ll clean up this mess you’ve made.”
“Unhand me. I’ll wash your confounded shirt if that’s what you want,” Chalyce said, trying to free her arm.
“The shirt is ruined…beyond repair. I meant this mess,” he corrected her, pointing to his well-defined chest.
Chalyce’s eyes widened and her mouth gaped open as she realized what he insinuated. “You can’t be serious!”
“You clean it…or else…”
